“Even as a girl, I have always had a deep love for beautiful clothes,” Shanghai designer and custom tailoring shop owner Holly Hou says. In 2016 she opened Bespoke, a business that blended Chinese tradition with modern style and world class cloths and materials. Over the last ten years, her operation at the famous South Bund Custom Tailoring Center has tripled in size, and in just that decade, her impact on the fashion world has been nothing short of remarkable. And it’s growing.

“I’ve dreamed since I was young of creating stunning garments born from my own imagination—for myself, and for strangers who share that same passion for elegance and style.” Adding the best fabrics to her inarguably unique vision of fashion, she quickly developed a passionate following. Customers began to give her sketches of garments for both men and women to bring to life. Celebrities and international travelers regularly return to Bespoke for more of her excellence. New clients from Europe invited Holly to travel to them for her time-honed, detailed custom measuring and tailoring. Faster than she could have dreamed, Holly Hou found herself moving through cultures, connections, and continents to become a one-of-a-kind worldwide success, a singularity of custom clothing.

To focus on this ground swell of interest in Holly’s expertise, her services are ever expanding. She now flies regularly to countries around the globe to meet clients in person, go over fabric options, discuss design and of course, make her very precise and critical measurements. Ms. Hou offers a first look at the finest materials she has selected from her trips to places like Italy, Paris, China and more.

She has also created POP UPS, traveling boutiques offering presentations of her work, fabric selections, expert advice, and of course her expertise, fine-tuned for what many clients report as unmatched success and satisfaction. Planned destinations for these novel traveling boutiques now include stops in Germany, Switzerland, Los Angeles, Santa Fe, San Francisco with others to be announced soon.
